Municipalities rely on leak testing
Leak testing of private property drainage systems is not legally required in Rhineland-Pfalz. However, under Section 18a of the Water Resources Act, “wastewater must be disposed of in such a way that the public welfare is not impaired”. In addition, the generally accepted technical standards apply, as set out in Section 18b WHG. Relevant references include DIN and EN standards (e.g. DIN 1986, DIN EN 1610, EN 752) and other regulations issued by professional associations. Municipal requirements must be observed.
